The study sought to examine the library code of conduct, the prospect and constraints in a real-life situation. Libraries, as gateways to
knowledge and culture, play a fundamental role in society. The resources and services it offers create opportunities for learning, support literacy and education, and help shape the new ideas and perspectives that are central to a creative and innovative society. Library science is the field of study that teaches how to manage books and other information, particularly through collecting, preserving, and organising books and other materials in libraries. The Library Code of Conduct was established to ensure that the library environment is maintained and applies to all areas of the Concordia Library, including stack areas, study spaces, classrooms, group study rooms, meeting rooms, stairwells, and washrooms. Access to the library is permitted only for the purpose of using library resources or for the purpose of academic study. The study concluded that the Library Conduct Code affirms a commitment to protecting an environment conducive to intellectual pursuits. Such an environment is characterised by respect for the rights of others, respect for the library’s resources, and respect for appropriate conduct in a public forum. Also, that the libraries seek to provide a safe and secure learning environment where diverse experiences and perspectives are honored. One of the recommendations in the study was that all the rules that concern the library code of conduct should be posted in conspicuous places within the library environment for users’ enlightenment.
