Child abuse is a devastating social problem in the society. This study examines child abuse and child rights law in Nigeria. Child abuse refers to any emotional, sexual, or physical mistreatment or neglect by an adult in a role of responsibility towards someone who is under 18 years of age. It refers to any kind of action or failure to act that results in harm or possible harm for a child. The sssue of child abuse has been given serious attention in many parts of the world. Children face the menace of abuse ranging from physical injuries, abandonment, sexual abuse to child labour. However child abuse is becoming alarming in the country. In spite government’s efforts to combats the problem the situation stands the same as no positive result has been realized. Hence, this study seeks to investigate on how child abuse has been ameliorated with the help of child right law in Nigeria.
